D-26: TTMIK's Curriculum

Here's the curriculum of all lessons at TTMIK.

D-26
I'm not really studying right now. Tonight I've decided to make a list of the curriculum at TTMIK and mark the ones that I should study first, verb endings / linking verbs that I've always wanted to learn, familiar verb endings that I haven't seen in the past few levels I've explored.

I met 2 people online, one on twitter and one on facebook who study Korean. The first one has only been studying for around 6 months. He knew how to say a lot of things but he lacked vocabulary and his spelling was terrible. The second one has been studying Korean for 2 years. She uses 존댓말. 그 여자가 TTMIK에서 공부하는지 몰라요. I don't know if she studies at TTMIK but her sentences are better than mine. She uses a lot of words too, so I could see that her vocabulary is better than mine.

Meanwhile I started lazily learning Korean since... 2010. I think I started learning around... July or August when my friends who knew hangul inspired me to learn hangul as well. I learned basic expressions at livemocha but I've forgotten when I started studying at TTMIK. My Korean which was barely anything improved a lot when I started studying at TTMIK. So I could say it's been 3 years including the time I started learning hangul.

I know how to improve my Korean. It's just that... I need more time. The TOPIK next year would be held next April. I only have around 4 months to prepare. 초급 중급 둘 다 하고 싶어요. I want to take both the elementary and intermediate level. For that I need to study almost all available lessons at TTMIK, practice past TOPIK exams, familiarize and memorize 5000-6000 Korean words, practice practice and practice.

If that twitter guy learned that much Korean in 6 months, I should also be able to do just that. My goal is to surpass those two people and pass the TOPIK. 중급 하면합격하는지 잘 모르겠는데 매일 한국어를 공부할게요.

My goal for the rest of December is to learn grammar, familiarize myself with the vocabulary and practice. On January, I'll start studying all the past 중급 토픽 that I've printed out.

그리고 한국어로 생각하는 것 곧 익숙해야 돼요.

Mid-November

Arin's TOPIK Preparation
I'm still stuck with my November vocabulary list and well, I haven't been doing anything else related to Korean. Next week, I want to finish everything. I need to buy notebooks so I could start making my notes more organized. With that I could also start studying TTMIK lessons again. Oh and I need to print their Iyagi pdfs.

My Korean schoolmate told me I had to start with the Elementary first, but I'm stubborn so I'm going to take both instead hahaha.

First Volunteer Work

Philippine Red Cross 11/12/13

A friend of mine in facebook who also volunteers at KCC posted a status about the Philippine Red Cross needing volunteers. It was just the perfect thing for me since I've been itching to help out these people from Tacloban in whatever way I can. So I went there on my own and helped out.

We finished real fast because the shift before us had repacked almost everything. After 30 to 1 hour, more volunteers came. We just waited for the noodles so we could include it in the plastic bags. The person in charge thanked us all for coming. It took less than 30 minutes to finish distributing a few boxes of noodles to the packs.

The rest of the work required a lot of muscles and since a football team came, they did the work. So did the rest of the guys and some ladies who were strong enough to carry three 4 liter bottles of Wilkins up to the second floor.

Leaving Friend

Wanting to volunteer was the first reason that I went to Manila. The second was to find the reason why my friend was going to file a leave of absence for a while. She said she might go home on the 3rd week so I just had to see her before she left.

It turns out that she was going to transfer.

Back to her hometown, seas far from here.

I usually don't mind not seeing people, including friends, knowing that I would see them again or that I could see them again. This time it's different. There's no way I can swim across seas to see her. She was my roommate too. It's sad and I'm thinking of a gift to give her before she leaves Manila for good.

I only have 2 days to think about that gift. 

I also realized that although we've been together the entire semester in the same room, we never took any pictures together. I must have a picture with her too.

D-4 Been lazy so far.

Today is D-4. I really should be panicking.

I just finished typing a "reviewer" for TTMIK level 6. I haven't finished a single part of 29th TOPIK, but I'm sort of getting the hang of it. Sort of. There were a lot of verb endings that I haven't heard of, which is why I decided to work on TTMIK Level 6.

A lot of things have happened in the past weeks by the way.

We went to Ilocos Norte and I took sooo many pictures. Mostly of the skies, grass and sea though. I wanted to make a blog of it, but my procrastination made me not do it.

Also, the KTO Manila blog contest has ended successfully, of course I didn't win. BUT, all participants got freebies!

Also, about the so called "tension" between North and South Korea, I've asked almost all of my Korean friends, and I quote one of them: We don't care~ \O/

So, with the travel guide and tourist map, I shall, hopefully, God willingly, go to Korea~!

And, if by God's grace I pass at least Level 3 of the TOPIK on Sunday, I might be able to get a scholarship in Korea~ Might.

AND WITH THAT I SRSLY NEED TO STUDY.

Btw, I went to school yesterday, and almost everyone was grumpy so I felt bad about  it. Only Korea related people are kind to me ._.

D-44 중급의 영사

Done scanning / typing the intermediate 명사 according to ezcorean.
Tomorrow I'll do the 동사. All of it. 다 공부해야 돼요.

I also finished 신의 earlier today.

And. I watched Bones Season 8, Episodes 1 and 2.

D-48 명사 Nouns (Beginner)

All I did was list the 명사 vocab for beginners from ezcorean, watch Faith, attempt to draw, get blood loss from chatting with my Taiwanese friend and~ eat.

Tomorrow, I should finish the one for intermediate, it's more than a thousand words. o u o

OH. I also finished "typing" the proverbs and sayings. Tomorrow, the intermediate 명사 and the idioms.

I might do the idioms first.

Okay, and I finally explored ezcorean and found this. You can also track your progress by signing in. I should lurk in this website everyday.

I should print my study materials now.


Yesterday, all I did was type my reviewer and watch  신의

D-55하고 신의(Faith)

오늘은 신의를 보고 있었어, 신의는 너무 재미있는데!

Today, I did nothing pretty significant regarding my preparation for the TOPIK. Except typing a part of my grammar reviewer which is still 70% undone.

영화를 봤다.

I watched 3 episodes of 신의 and it was very interesting! There were just too many adorable characters and I love the leading lady of the series. It's really funny seeing 최영(이민호) wear his warrior attire while carrying a police shield behind him.

I laughed, cried, pitied, spazzed and did all of those together. Laughing while crying, pitying then laughing... Faith is a must watch for those who are into rom-com and time travel.

My friend 채연 told me to watch 신의 last year when I was into Rooftop Prince. At first I thought it was serious (like dead serious), but it's really funny. So far, 이민호 has been very serious but some of the things he does are funny.

I should get back on my reviewer.

Yesterday I did nothing but make flash cards. I managed to finish the "first handout" with 336 words. Of course I didn't make flashcards for the words I already knew. So that's 336/5666. There's still a lot more to go and I still have to memorize those.

For some reason I'm too lazy to do anything like make flashcards, organize word files for printing...stuff like that.

Things I should do:

( ) Compile notes for irregular 'letters'
( ) Edit word files and make pdfs
( ) Write/Type reviewer for TTMIK Levels 1-4
( ) Start studying Level 5 of TTMIK

( ) Print parts of Using Korean

Buh. I'm so lazy that I can't even force myself to shower. I should go.

I don't even feel like drawing, watching anime or reading manga
