Yume's Language Studies: Progress.
今日は4日2月。Today is the fourth day of February.
For the first time this year, I woke up at 4am and ate breakfast. I failed to stay awake until sunrise though. I ended up sleeping and waking up at 8:30.
Before giving in to sleep, I managed to review the kanji I've memorized. (一、右、雨、円、王、音、下、火、花、貝、学、気、九 and 休)I had a "hard time" on some of the sample compound words, but I've memorized most of them. I still had a lot of erasures, mainly from immediately writing the vocabulary after the radical, completely forgetting about the 音読みと訓読み。
I wrote another set of 4: 玉、金、空 and 月。
My goal is to memorze them in less than 4 days, because memorizing just a kanji per day means that it'll take me around SIX years to memorize all the Joyo Kanji! There are 2136 Joyo kanji (frequently used kanjis in Japan). 1006 of those kanji are called Education Kanji and are taught in Elementary School.
The number of kanji taugh per grade:
Grade 1: 80
Grade 2: 160
Grade 3: 200
Grade 4: 200
Grade 5: 185
Grade 6: 181
Junior High School: 1130
Thinking of the number of kanji to be memorized is enough to get anyone disheartened but, I will definitely get to memorize all of them with God's help! Anything is possible! Someday....someday I'll be able to speak Japanese.
